What a swell party it was!MAGIC, MUSIC AND MIRTH were the order of the day when Sgt. Stone threw a 'bouncy beach party' on Brighton beach in the summer of 1999."I was born in Brighton and enjoyed the Punch & Judy show as a child", explained Sgt. Stone, "now that I've been the Punch & Judy man for 25 years, I wanted to celebrate the occasion with all my customers - young and old." So, on 12 June a stageful of merrymakers set the seafront sizzling and even the mayor had a knees up, after officially declaring the jubilee celebrations open by cutting the sausages (don't you mean ribbon? ed) Sgt. Stone, the BBCs 'Bodger 'n Badger' 12 foot high puppets and a host of local celebrities spent the afternoon entertaining over a 100 children - and a few holidaymakers. Everyone was treated to a slap up tea and all the fun of the fair! Later a giant Punch & Judy cake was taken to patients at a local childrens hospital. "They couldn't come to the party" said Sgt. Stone, "so we took the party to them!" |
